Plate 76 of The Birds of America by John Audubon, the Virginia Partridge, now more commonly called the Northern Bobwhite, sometimes still called the Virginia Quail (in Virginia anyway.) This group’s get-together is being ruined by a hungry party crasher who’s come for the free food- and isn’t concerned whether it’s called partridge or quail.
